The countdown for the Monday morning launch of a new variant of the Indian rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) carrying electronic intelligence satellite, Emisat for the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) began on Sunday, the Indian space agency said.

A Delhi policeman allegedly shot dead a couple at a temple in Ghziabad, apparently because the woman had ended into a relationship with him, police said Saturday. Dinesh, assistant sub-inspector with the Delhi Traffic Police, and his accomplice Pintoo were arrested, days after the bodies of Preeti, 32 and her fiancé Surendra, 26, were found in a temple in ‘Sai Upwan’ near the Hindan river, they said.

In a shocking case from Kerala’s Kollam, a 27-year-old woman was starved to death for dowry so much so that she was reduced to a “bag of a skeleton” and weighed just 20 kgs on her death. Thushara, who was a native of Karunagappally, was allegedly denied proper food by her husband and mother-in-law. For days, she survived only on soaked rice and sugar syrup before she breathed her last at a government hospital.
