After nabbing Faisal Hassan Mirza, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), on Wednesday, arrested a Gujarat-based man identified as Allahrakha Abubakar Mansuri. The 32-year-old native of Gandhidham in Kutch, Mansuri was also in touch with the Dubai-based handler.
"The arrested suspect is a driver by profession. Investigations revealed that he and Faisal Mirza were in constant touch with their Dubai-based handler Farooq Devadiwala. We suspect that Mansuri is also a part of the group that was radicalised by Devadiwala to carry out terror activities in India. His role is being investigated and his antecedents are also being checked," said an ATS official, requesting anonymity.
Mansuri was produced before a special court, which remanded him to police custody till May 25.
On May 11, ATS had arrested Mirza, who was trained by terrorists and ISI in Pakistan in bomb making, weapon handling and to carry out fidayeen attack. Mirza was allegedly planning to carry out terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. It is also alleged that Mirza's cousin Devadiwala had sent him (Mirza) to Pakistan for terror training.
Devadiwala, who has a criminal record in Gujarat, has a red-corner notice of Interpol against him.
